My Dearest Darling: Letters Of Love In Wartime By Lisa Franco
AUTHOR TALK AND BOOK SIGNING AT THE SUBMARINE FORCE MUSEUM: A SPECIAL VALENTINE’S EVENT
Saturday, February 11, 2023, 1:00 – 3:00 PM
1 Crystal Lake Road
Groton, CT
U.S. naval officer and submariner Donald Storey was not just fighting for his country in World War II—he was fighting to come home to his love, Margery. When journalist Lisa Franco stumbled upon the couple’s lost love letters in a Cape Cod antique shop, she had no idea of the story she was about to uncover. In My Dearest Darling: Letters of Love in Wartime, Donald’s and Margery’s intimate and heartwarming correspondence chronicles their romance, personal sacrifices, hopes, and dreams, and gives a firsthand account of historical events as they unfolded overseas and at home. It also recounts Donald’s time training at the Naval Submarine Base New London, and offers a glimpse into serving on a sub during this time in history. Come meet the author and hear about her eleven-year journey to bring the true love story of this Connecticut couple back to life. Autographed books will be available to purchase at the Submarine Force Museum Nautilus Ship’s Store.
