Hi everbody!
Loooooook!!!!! It’s the NAUTILUS! I made it! I am soooo excited! I know you can’t tell from these pictures, but she is huge! Look at how small I am, standing in front of her.
The picture on the left shows me standing in front of the NAUTILUS sail, which shows her hull number (SSN 571) as well as three letters. NAUTILUS has a white “E”, a red “E” and a white “A” painted on the sail. These letters represent awards that the ship received for being the best in its class.
Directly in front of me, are plaques telling visitors about the ship. The picture on the left shows me standing in front of the plank to get onto the NAUTILUS. Can you tell by the picture that she is IN the water! You can see one of the large cleats they have to tie her to the pier. Look at the size of that rope! It would have to be pretty strong to keep a boat that big at the pier. Can you imagine how heavy they must be? How heavy do you think they are? I wonder how many people it takes to haul those ropes. Maybe they have a machine that does it….hmmmm. What do you think?
I can’t wait to go on board!
See you soon.
Your friend,
Stanley
